ORGANIZE YOUR LIFE WITH BULLET JOURNAL WEEKLIES

On my Instagram sister site, @showmeyourplanner, the question I get asked the most is

“HOW DO I GET STARTED?”

As with trying anything new, beginning a new bullet journal can be intimidating. There are a ton of conflicting resources out there telling you what bullet journal elements you should use or shouldn’t use. And the truth is, you do what’s right for you.

For this series, I’ve chosen the key elements for bullet journaling and will explain them in detail, and of course, provide you with lots of gorgeous inspiration from my favorite bullet journal accounts. I’ve organized the posts in this series in the order in which I use them, but feel free to click through the posts in any order that you like.

  1. Bullet Journal Index
  2. Bullet Journal Key
  3. Bullet Journal Future Log
  4. Bullet Journal Monthly Planning
  5. Bullet Journal Weekly Logs (you’re here!) or Weekly Spreads
  6. Bullet Journal Dailies

Let’s start with a quick explanation of where bullet journal weekly spreads fit into the grand scheme of things. I’d say after the all-important future planning spreads for your bullet journal, weekly spreads are a close second. I personally don’t use daily spreads, because my weeklies do all the heavy lifting for me.

Bullet Journal Weekly Spreads are the centerpiece of my own bullet journal. I’m able to write all my important events, to dos, meal plan, track what I’m decluttering, and keep track of long term projects.

KEEP IT SIMPLE WITH BULLET JOURNAL WEEKLY SPREADS

If I feel like getting really fancy I will color code my bullets. Obviously , that week I wan’t feeling fancy. I’ve experimented with lots of weekly spreads, but the one above is the one that’s currently working for me. And that’s the whole point of bullet journalling. You do what works for you. Keep it simple.

FEEL FREE TO JAZZ UP YOUR WEEKLIES

However, many of you have incredible artistic talents and/or a little more time to dedicate to your bullet journal, so I say, go ahead and make it ornate. Add color. Doodle everywhere. Draw pretty banners and intricate wreaths. Your bullet journal should be a sort of mediation. A bit of planning peace in your hectic day. And if adding embellishments to your bullet journal brings a little zen into your life, then you’re doing it right.

MY FAVORITE WEEKLY SPREADS

Let me start with my favorite bullet journal weekly spreads. As I said above, this is what I utilize most in my own bullet journal. I’ll admit, sometimes it’s tough trying to fit everything on two pages, but I’d much rather write small, than have to flip back and forth through multiple pages. Weeklies are not officially an element Ryder Carroll uses in the original bullet journal method, but it works for me!

And, bullet journal weekly spreads seem to work perfectly well for all these talented bullet journalists.
